My Hair is coming out in clumps!

A Sudden loss of hair is not normal.

This is called Telogen Effluvium.  This is a disturbance in the hair follicle and can be reversed and possibly prevented in the future.

Here are the different degrees of hair shedding

Normal Shedding:

We lose an average of 30 - 75 hairs per day and you will lose more hairs on the days you shampoo your hair.

Abnormal Shedding:

◦            You are losing 100-300 hairs per day.

◦            You run your fingers through your hair and are getting 30+ hairs in your hands.

◦            You are clogging drains or seeing more hairs on your pillow, clothes & in your brush.

This temporary hair loss usually happens after stress, sudden weight loss, surgery, certain medications, traumatic event or childbirth.

Seeing a trichologist is a great first step and I am here to help. I will get a full hair and health history and perform a trichoscope of your scalp. This is a magnifying scope that allows me to see the health of your scalp and follicles.

Treatment options might be a topical vitamin or a hair growth shampoo that encourages growth, or defining a nutritional deficiency that can easily be reversed with diet. Epigenetic Mapping is a great to help determine exactly what nutrients your body is lacking and offers a 90-day plan rebuild the deficiency with whole food recommendations.

Whatever is triggering your sudden hair loss, it does not have to continue. Getting to the root cause and addressing it quickly will stop the shed and get you back to loving your hair.
